Every year December 24 is celebrated as National Consumer Rights Day in India. This day provides an opportunity for people to highlight the importance of the conservative movement. It aims to spread awareness among consumers about its importance, its rights and responsibilities.
Why is National Consumer Rights Day celebrated?
The Consumer Protection Act Bill was passed on December 24, 1986. At that time, the Act was amended in 1991 and 1993. A new amendment was made in December 2002 to make the Act more widely used. The Consumer Protection Act was then enacted on March 15, 2003. The Consumer Protection Rules were also amended in 1987. It was then fully recognized on March 05, 2004. National Consumer Day was first observed in the year 2000. In addition, March 15 is celebrated every year as World Consumer Rights Day. Consumers are also sensitized by organizing Ther-Ther Seminar on 24th December every year.
