Naval Day is celebrated on December 4 every year. Navy personnel are commemorated on this day. Navy Day is celebrated as a celebration of the victory of the Indian Navy in the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War. Our airspace and border area was attacked on December 3 by the Pakistani army. The attack marked the beginning of the 1971 war. 'Operation Trident' was launched to give a scathing response to Pakistan. The operation was launched targeting the Pakistan Navy's Karachi-based headquarters. An attacking group of one missile boat and two warships attacked a group of ships off the coast of Karachi. The ship was attacked for the first time in this war by an anti-ship missile. Several Pakistani ships were destroyed in the attack. Meanwhile, Pakistan's oil tankers were also destroyed.
The oil depot was on fire for seven days
The destruction of the Karachi Harbor fuel storage broke the waist of the Pakistan Navy. The blaze in Karachi's oil tankers could be seen from a distance of 60 km. The fire at the Karachi oil depot could not be extinguished for seven days.
Why is Naval Day celebrated only on 4th December?
