No one just uses black to paint the house. Not only that, oil paint, emulsion paint or lime color is not black in any of the catalogs. Because the demand for this color is negligible. But in Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh, black houses are easily seen in tribal villages and cities. Tribal people still paint their floors and walls black. There are so many beliefs behind it.
Before Diwali, everyone paints their house. This year too, the people of the tribal community of Jashpur district are painting the house by choosing the black color as per the tradition. The walls of a rural house are painted with black clay. That is why some villagers make black paint by burning parawat while some tires also make black color by burning. It is worth mentioning that earlier black clay was easily available, but due to non-availability of black clay, people now resort to other methods to prepare black color.
The same color to bring uniformity in society
People from the Aghariya tribal community started painting the house black to show solidarity. This color has been used since the time when tribal people used to stay away from glitter. At that time only black clay was available for painting the house and it was used for painting. Even today, by looking at the black color in the village, one can know that this is a tribal house. The black color shows uniformity.
Even in a house painted in black, it is so dark during the day that only the members of the house know what has happened in which room. It is worth mentioning that there are few windows in the houses of tribal people. There are small skylights. This type of home has a lower risk of burglary.
At the same time, one of the characteristics of black paint was that the black clay wall was comfortable in all seasons. Not only that, the tribals were also making many artefacts on the walls. The wall was also painted black for him.
