You may have heard of onion sauce, tomato sauce, coriander sauce, etc. But have you ever eaten or heard of ant sauce? You may be thinking that this is not the case in India, but ant sauce is made in another country. But this is only made and eaten in India.
A tribe from Jharkhand makes a sauce of red ants found in a forest tree and eats it with great gusto. People of tribal society believe that if this ant sauce is eaten on cold days, it will not feel cold and will also make the appetite feel good. It contains tetric acid which is very beneficial for the body.
The tree is home to ants
Matkurva village, 70 km from Jamshedpur in Jharkhand, is mostly inhabited by tribals. This is a village amidst dense forests, where there are no facilities. Tribal people here say that as soon as it gets cold, red ants make their home on the trees here. His house is covered with leaves all the way, which is built at the height of the tree. The villagers find out about this when the ants start roaming on the tree.
This is how ant sauce is made
Tribal society breaks down an ant's house with tree branches. It is then dipped into a large pot so that all the ants can gather in one place. The women of the house then place it on a large stone and add salt, chilli, ginger, garlic and chop it in a very small bowl. After crushing for about 30 minutes, all the red ants are mixed in the mixture. Then all the people take sal leaves from their homes, put the sauce in them and share them with each other.
Everyone from a one-year-old to a 50-year-old eats ant sauce. People here say that red ants come to the tree only once a year and this ant's sauce was also eaten by its ancestors.
