World Emoji Day 2020: Find out how Emoji Day started?

New delhi date. 17 July 2020, Friday

Emoji are icons where you can express your feelings even if your words are missing. Today is July 17th in the name of this emoji. This emoji has broken many records. The emoji was created by Japanese designer Shigetaka Kurita at the age of 25. He created 176 sets of emoji in the year 1999 in the form of tiny dots. These emoji sets became so popular that they are housed in the Permanent Collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Emojis were included in the course at a British university last year. Emoji will also be part of the course in language, marketing, psychology and politics courses from all universities, including King's College, Edinburgh and Cardiff. Jeremy Berg, the founder of Emojipedia, declared July 17 as World Emoji Day to bring the achievements of emoji to the people of the world. The first Emoji Day was celebrated in 2014. Learn some things about emoji today on World Emoji Day ...

Known as the Father of Emoji, Shigetaka Kurita has neither studied engineering nor was he a designer. Shigetaka, who studied economics, designed the emoji for a mobile internet service company. Back then the number of characters to send an email was only 250. That's when Kurita realized that emojis would be the best way to express herself in a few words. That's why emojis were used instead of words in emails.

Shigetaka created the first set of emojis with ideas like pictures of the atmosphere, light bulbs and tickling bombs from comic books, etc., which also included emojis depicting laughter, sadness, anger, surprise and confusion. Seeing the growing popularity of emojis in Japan, the iPhone incorporated an emoji-keyboard into its mobile phones. Gradually it was used in SMS and chatting.

Added emoji word to Oxford Dictionary

The word was added to the Oxford Dictionary in 2013. In 2015, the Oxford Dictionary named the word emoji 'Word of the Year'. In 2016, the Museum of Modern Art in New York also included the first set of 176 emojis of Shigetaka Kurita in its Permanent Collection.

According to the Unicode Standard List, 3,304 emojis have been created so far. According to the Unicode Committee, a large number of new emoji applications are received each year. The Unicode Consortium decides whether or not to create an emoji, but large companies like Apple and Google are free to create their own personal emoji. Jeremy Berg, the founder of World Emoji Day, is himself a member of the Unicode Committee. Experts say that emoji is now going to be the language of the future. People are now reducing their choice of words and expressing emotions through emojis.

Emoji have a different world of their own. Emoji has become not only the best way to express emotions but also people can easily give their reaction through emoji on any issue. You may be surprised to know that over 5 billion emojis are used every day worldwide. Finland was the first country in the world to display its culture in emojis.

The use of emoji dates back to the year 1990. Today emojis are being used to chat not only email but also status on social media platforms like WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc.

2 emojis are mainly used in India. According to tech company Bobble AI, 'Tears of Happiness' and 'Blowing Kiss' emojis are among the top 2 emojis used for conversations in India.
