Every year January 09 is celebrated as Traveling Indian Day. Amidst the Corona epidemic, the main theme of this year's 16th Traveler India Day Convention is contributions to self-reliant India. Traveler India Day was first observed in the year 2003.

Some things related to the traveling Indian day

Mahatma Gandhi returned to India from South Africa on January 9, 1915 and is considered to be the greatest traveler. Due to this, every 9th January is celebrated by the Government of India as Traveler India Day. The main purpose behind celebrating Tourist Day is to recognize the contribution of Indians living in other parts of the world in the development of India.

Who is a traveling Indian?

People who move out of India and live in other parts of the world are called traveling Indians. According to statistics, about two and a half crore Indian tourists are living in 110 countries. India has gained recognition for its migrant Indians who have preserved their cultural as well as linguistic heritage while living abroad. There are some countries including USA, China, Russia, Japan where a large number of tourists from all over the world including India live.

Traveling Indians have made a great contribution to the progress of the country

Tourists are considered to be a major contributor to the country's progress. According to a report released by the World Bank on Migration and Remittance in recent days, Indian tourists have been at the forefront of remittances. According to the report, traveling Indians sent 80 80 billion, or Rs 57,000 crore, to India in 2018.

The most touristy Indians live in the Gulf countries

Most tourists live in the Indian Gulf countries. About 3 million Indian tourists live in the Gulf countries. There are about 1 million Indian tourists in the UK. About 1.5 lakh Indian tourists live in Canada. It is estimated that 70 per cent of Indians living in the Gulf countries, or about 2.1 million people, make a living by working hard in the Gulf countries.
