History of Animal Day
World Animal Day was first organized by Henrik Zimmermann on March 24, 1925 at the Sports Palace in Berlin, Germany. But since 1929, this day has been celebrated on October 4. Initially this movement was started in Germany and gradually it started spreading all over the world. In 1931, the International Convention for the Protection of Animals, held in Florence, Italy, passed and approved a resolution to designate October 4 as International Animal Day. The United Nations launched a series of campaigns under the rules and directives of the 'Sovereign Declaration on Animal Welfare'. In a moral declaration, the United Nations publicly spoke of recognizing animals as sensitive animals in terms of pain and suffering.
Importance of Animal Day
World Animal Day aims to improve animal welfare standards and gain the support of individuals and organizations. The main purpose of this day is to protect endangered animals and strengthen the relationship of animals with humans. International Animal Day works on the assumption that every animal is a special sensory animal and therefore every animal deserves sensitivity and social justice. Even in times of natural calamity these animals were treated harshly and their safety was neglected which is inappropriate.
Animal Day Ceremony
On World Animal Welfare Day, different types of ceremonies are organized to improve the quality of life of animals. Such as World Animal Welfare Campaign, inauguration of rescue ashrams for animals, construction of shelters for animals and planning of fund raising programs etc.
This day is celebrated differently in each country beyond nationality, religion, faith and political ideology and on this occasion the subjects of all these countries are different towards these animals. Through increased awareness and education we can build a world where animals are considered the closest to human beings.
