Today, August 26, is Women's Equality Day. On this day in 1920, the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution was adopted. This day was the first step towards treating women and men equally. Many women's organizations across the country are celebrating Women's Equality Day with great enthusiasm. At the same time, they appeal for equal rights for women in employment and education.
Women are the axis of the entire human race. It not only gives birth to children but also nourishes and nurtures them. Women play many roles simultaneously in their lives - mother, wife, sister, teacher, friendship, etc. - very easily and beautifully. It is the first and foremost Sikh mother to teach her children about life, how to face failure in adverse situations and how to move towards success.
Did you know that international studies have shown that when a society's economy and political organization change, women take the initiative to help the family, women adapt to new realities and challenges.
History of Women's Equality Day:
The movement for women's suffrage was started in the United States. In most states in the United States in the 1830s, voting rights were restricted to wealthy white men.
During this time many civil rights movements such as slavery, restraint movement, moral movement etc. were going on across the country. Women also played an important role in this movement.
In 1848, a group of abolitionists gathered at Seneca Falls, New York. The group was discussing women's issues and women's rights. This group of women also included some men. He has determined that American women are also entitled to their own political identity. A few years later the movement became fierce. But over time, the anti-slavery movement led to a significant slowdown in the movement for women's rights. But during the 1890s, the National American Women's Suffrage Association was started and chaired by Elizabeth KD Stanton. Before the end of the decade, Idaho and Utah gave women the right to vote.
