Global Handwashing Day is celebrated globally on 15th October every year. The belief behind it is to protect against diseases caused by hand dirt such as diarrhea, eye and skin related diseases. Now the epidemic of corona infection is working to further the activity of hand washing. According to doctors, there is a lot of dirt in our hands that we cannot see, which is due to touching anything, using it and many other types of daily activities. This dirt gets into the body by eating and drinking anything without washing hands and gives rise to many kinds of diseases, Hand Washing Day is celebrated globally every year on 15th October to raise awareness about hand washing. The day was established in 2008 by the Global Hand Washing Partnership to spread awareness on the importance of hand washing with soap.
The theme of this year's Global Handwashing Day is 'Clean Hands for All'. This year everyone has understood the importance of hand hygiene. The most effective way to prevent coronary heart disease is to wash your hands evenly, which greatly reduces the risk of infection. The WHO's global guidelines aim at hand hygiene to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic and bring it into practice. It has recently launched the Hand Hygiene for All Global Initiative led by WHO and UNICEF.
Global Hand Washing Day was established in 2008 in Sweden. The Global Handwashing Partnership kicked off the day at World Water Week in Sweden. The aim was to spread awareness among the people about hand washing with soap. Partnership committee members included Colgate, Palmolive, FHI 360, Procter & Gamble, UNICEF, Unilever and the World Bank. To celebrate this day, a number of events are organized every year, with the special purpose of showing people the importance of hand washing.
