In December 1996, the United Nations General Assembly declared November 21 as World Television Day. The first World Television Forum was established on November 21 this year. This day is celebrated in memory of the establishment of this forum. The purpose of this forum was to provide a platform to talk about the importance of TV. History of TV

Television was invented in 1927 by the American scientist John Logie Baird. After many failures, efforts to electronize the TV continued throughout the 7-year period of the invention, and by 1934, the device had become fully electronic. Then within 2 years many modern TV stations were opened. Gradually it became an important means of entertainment and information dissemination.

TV in India

TV first appeared in India in 1950. An engineering student from Chennai introduced television for the first time in the exhibition. The first television set in India was bought by a wealthy family in Kolkata. In the year 1965, All India Radio started daily TV transmission. In 1976, the government separated TV from All India Radio. The first national television channel was launched in 1982. This year also saw the first color TV in the country.
