November 26 is Constitution Day in India every year. This day is also known as National Law Day. On this day in 1949, the Constitution of India adopted the Constitution of India, which came into force on January 26, 1950.
History of Constitution Day
On November 26, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution, which came into force in 1950. On November 19, 2015, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment decided to observe November 26 every year as 'Constitution Day' by the Government of India to promote the values of the Constitution among the citizens.
Significance of Constitution Day
Dr. BR Ambedkar was a famous social reformer, politician and jurist and is also called the father of the Indian Constitution. He was appointed Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee on August 29, 1947.
Dr. Ambedkar was the man who drafted the Indian Constitution and the year 2015 was Ambedkar's 125th birthday. The purpose of Constitution Day of India The aim is to create awareness among the people about the importance of BR Ambedkar. This day was announced on October 11, 2015.
What is the Constitution of India?
The Constitution is a set of written principles and examples of the Government of India outlining the basic political principles, procedures, rights, guiding principles, restrictions and duties of the government and the citizens of the country.
It declares India a sovereign, secular, socialist and democratic republic and guarantees equality, liberty and justice to its citizens.
