World Tap Day is being observed all over the world today. This is celebrated on March 20 every year. Its purpose is to spread awareness about the conservation of this bird. Over the last few years these cockroaches have been slowly becoming extinct.
There was a time when we used to wake up every morning to hear the chirping of cockroaches but today the very existence of these cockroaches is in danger. In view of this situation, the world has been celebrating 'World Cockroach Day' since 2010. But did you know that the history of this marvelous cockroach is also connected with cricket. Find out the interesting story behind it ...
This is the year 1936. When our country was not even free. A cricket match between Marylebone Cricket Club and Cambridge University was played at Lord's Cricket Ground in England in 1936. In this match, Jahangir Khan of India was playing for Cambridge University. While Jahangir was bowling during the match, he suddenly collided with a ball. Jahangir was severely injured by the ball and died shortly afterwards, after which it was kept in the Lord's Museum with the ball. Which was later renamed 'Sparrow of Lords'.
Jahangir was also the selector of the Indian team
It may be mentioned that Jahangir Khan, who played four Tests for India before independence, was also the selector of the Indian team. However, after the partition, they moved to Pakistan. He was also involved in cricket in Pakistan and for a short time was also selected for the national team there.
