Do you know why anyone eats more while watching TV?

New delhi date. Thursday, August 27, 2020

Have you ever noticed that while watching a movie on TV or working on a laptop, you eat the food in your plate and you don't even know it? Feeling we have 'Run out of gas' emotionally? If this happens then it is because of the side effects of overuse of the screen. This is claimed in a recent study by the university.

According to researchers, sitting in front of a screen for lunch or dinner is the main cause of weight gain. In fact, being preoccupied with TV, smartphones, or computers makes it difficult for the brain to estimate how much food a person has consumed. It does not release a hormone that expresses a sense of contentment and satisfaction.

As a result the stomach does not get the message that it is full and no longer needs to eat. According to the lead researcher, being busy at the screen does not make a person focus on the calories in the food. Even in this cycle he often sits down to eat more than he needs to.

Not only this, after some time if any other food item is put in front of him he also eats it. It also absorbs more calories the second time you eat.

The lead researcher and his colleagues divided 120 people into two groups. The first group is given more calories while the second group is given a low calorie shake to drink. Both groups also had a maths paper solved. The first group was given tough questions while the second group was given simple questions. Half an hour later chips and chocolates were placed in front of both groups. Meanwhile, almost all the members of the first group ate chocolate-chips without thinking. Most of the other group didn't even touch it then. He explained the reason for getting enough calories from the shake.
