A lockdown has been implemented across the country to rescue as many people as possible from the Corona crisis, but that has led to a 95 percent increase in domestic violence cases. The National Women's Commission made this claim on the basis of complaints received from different cities during the 25 days before and after the nationwide lockdown. Reportedly, domestic violence cases with women have almost doubled.
The Commission has released the figures comparing the complaints received during the current year Damarian February 27 to March 22 and the lockdown from March 23 to April 16. During the 25-day period, the Commission received 123 complaints of domestic violence while 239 cases of domestic harassment were registered during the lockdown.
The fight for honor
The Commission has received the highest complaint regarding the right to live with honor in the family. In the 25 days before the lockdown, 117 women were accused of being discriminated against, while during the lockdown, 166 women and women demanded the right to live with dignity in society and family. Similarly, 396 cases of cybercrime had come up in the past while 587 complaints were received during lockdown.
Dowry harassment cases decrease
The number of dowry harassment cases has decreased during lockdown. Earlier, 44 complaints were received in 25 days while 37 cases were registered during the lockdown. Similarly, 25 cases of harassment were registered in the last 25 days while 15 complaints were registered during lockdown.

Delhi High Court has termed the rise in domestic violence and child molestation cases during lockdown alarming. According to the court, cases of domestic violence and child abuse have increased during the worldwide epidemic, but timely settlement is needed. On April 10, the Women's Commission released a WhatsApp number 7217713537 to help women. In just six days, he has received 40 complaints of domestic violence. The Commission is currently sending help to women by taking immediate action on their complaints.
